Pretended to be dead and defrauded the insurance company of 1.2 million euros
It was stated that H.K., who played football together with M.N in Schalke youth setup for a while has been on the agenda with the fraud incident and was sentenced to prison for defrauding an insurance company with a false death four years ago.
As the beginning of the event, On January 9, 2016, it was stated that H.K and his aider wife would serve three years and 10 months in prison, based on an alleged automobile accident that took place in Congo.
It was noted that H.K., who was thought to have died in the accident, reappeared in 2019, three years later, and worked as a technician at an energy company in the Ruhr region of Germany.
In the case file prepared by the prosecutor, it was stated that he and his wife decided to stage the death of H.K. together, H.K.'s lawyer claimed that his client did not receive payment from the money collected from the insurance company and H.K.'s wife also said that she “lost faith in justice” and that she was innocent after the verdict.
In his defense, H.K. stated that he went to the German embassy in Kinshasa in 2018 to report that the reports about his death were untrue and in his statement to the authorities, he stated that he was abandoned by his friends without ID, money and phone during his trip to Congo in January 2016, then abducted and taken to a village in the Congo countryside.
It was reported that after H.K.'s death was announced, his wife received 1.2 million euros from the insurance company.
